Gifted Program Update!

Updates and Changes for the 2018/2019 School Year:

  • Jenn Deans, Zoe Branigan-Pipe, and Gerry Schaefer will continue to work in the role as Special Assignment Teachers for Gifted Students.
  • The location of the Enrichment Centers are currently: Dr. Davey School and Holbrook School.
  • The Gifted Program has increased in student population resulting in more classes and a fuller calendar.
  • There will continue to be some school support visits and this will be based on needs of the student and school.
  • The Gifted Program will change the structure of how and when students will visit the program at the Enrichment and Innovation Centre. In previous years, students visited a total of 5-6 times throughout the school year for one-day Inquiry-Based Experiential Learning workshops.  *This will change* 
    • Grade Five Students:
      • 12 Classes (in 2017/2018 there were 7)
      • There will be one teacher for each grade five class (in the past there were two)
      • Students will attend the Program Two Sessions that are three consecutive days each. Due to numbers, some Grade Five Groups (classes) will not begin until December.
    •  Grade Six Students:
      • 7 Classes (in 2017/2018 there were 6)
      • Will attend the Program Two Sessions that are three consecutive days each. Due to numbers, some Grade Six Groups (classes) will not begin until January/February.
    • Grade Seven Students:
      • 7 Classes (in 2017/2018 there were 6)
      • Will attend the Program Two Sessions that are three consecutive days each. Due to numbers, some Grade Seven Groups (classes) will not begin until January/February.
    • Grade Eight Students:
      • 7 Classes (in 2017/2018 there were 5)
      • Will attend the Program Two Sessions that are two consecutive days each.
      • Will complete the Enrichment Center visits by February to accommodate in-school programs occurring from February to June.
